Characteristics of the Permalloy Industry Report

A simple way to distinguish between permalloy and pig iron is to use a magnetometer to test their magnetic permeability. Generally, permalloy has a magnetic permeability of over 100,000, whereas pig iron has a magnetic permeability of less than 20,000.
The alloy is melted in a vacuum induction furnace and then subjected to hot and cold plastic deformation to produce cold-rolled strips, cold-drawn wires, or hot-rolled (forged) plates and bars.

Used for manufacturing audio transformers, current transformers, magnetic amplifiers, magnetic modulators, chokes, and audio magnetic heads.
Permalloy exhibits excellent soft magnetic properties. Its initial permeability μi ranges from 36.5 d to 135 mH/m, with a maximum permeability μm reaching 125 to 375 mH/m. Its coercive force is 0.8 A/m, and its resistivity ρ is between 60 and 85.
